Welcoming New Patients to Our Brisbane CBD Dental Practice

We are pleased to welcome new patients to Dentistry on George.

Your first appointment with us will depend on your needs. Some patients are simply due for a routine check-up and clean, while others would prefer a more comprehensive assessment, a second opinion, or advice about a specific concern. To make this easier, we offer a small number of clearly defined new patient appointment options.

If you are unsure which appointment is most appropriate, our team can help guide you.

If you are experiencing pain, swelling, trauma or a broken tooth and need urgent care, please visit our Dental Emergencies page.

Dental consultation

New Patient Consultation & Examination $176

A thorough starting point for patients who would like a detailed assessment of their oral health or have a specific concern they would like discussed.

This appointment includes a consultation with one of our dentists, together with a comprehensive examination of the teeth, gums, soft tissues, jaw joints and supporting muscles. It also includes oral cancer screening, digital x-rays and clinical photographs where required.

This option is generally the most appropriate starting point for patients who:

  • would like a comprehensive dental assessment

  • are seeking a second opinion

  • have a specific concern such as jaw joint problems, snoring or sleep apnoea, or cosmetic concerns

  • have several issues they would like discussed

  • feel anxious about dental treatment and would prefer a more detailed assessment and conversation first

New Patient Examination, Clean and Fluoride — $310

A new patient appointment that combines a dental examination with professional teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment.

This appointment includes everything in the New Patient Consultation and Examination, together with a scale and clean and fluoride treatment, where clinically appropriate.

This appointment is generally best suited to patients who have been attending regularly for dental care elsewhere and are due for their routine check-up and clean. If you have a specific concern, more complex dental issues, or would like a more detailed discussion and assessment, we usually recommend starting with a New Patient Consultation and Examination.

New Patient Clean and Fluoride — $221

A professional cleaning appointment for new patients who are up to date with their dental examinations and are mainly looking for ongoing maintenance care.

This appointment includes a scale and clean together with fluoride treatment to support decay prevention and help reduce sensitivity.

This option is generally best suited to patients who:

  • have had a recent dental examination elsewhere

  • are looking for routine maintenance of their gum health

  • would like stain removal as part of a professional clean

If you are overdue for a dental examination, have a specific concern, or have not had recent x-rays, we may recommend booking a more comprehensive new patient appointment instead.

New Patient Frequently Asked Questions

Which new patient appointment should I book?

That depends on your needs. If you have been attending regularly elsewhere and are simply due for your routine check-up and clean, the New Patient Examination, Clean and Fluoride appointment is often the most appropriate. If you have a specific concern, several issues to discuss, would like a second opinion, or feel you may require a more detailed assessment, we usually recommend the New Patient Consultation and Examination.

Do I need x-rays at my first appointment?

In many cases, yes. X-rays help us properly assess areas that cannot be seen clinically, including between the teeth and below the gums. If x-rays are needed, we will explain this as part of your assessment.

Can I book a clean if I have not had a recent dental examination?

If you have not had a recent examination, or if you have concerns that may need more discussion or investigation, a more comprehensive new patient appointment is often the better starting point. This allows us to properly assess your oral health before recommending treatment.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your first appointment will usually involve discussing your concerns, completing an examination and taking any necessary x-rays or photographs. We will then explain our findings, discuss any recommendations and let you know the next steps.

What if I have a specific issue I want checked?

If you have a particular concern such as suitability for dental implants, cosmetic concern, multiple dental issues, jaw joint symptoms, snoring or sleep apnoea concerns, or you would like a second opinion, the New Patient Consultation and Examination is usually the most appropriate appointment. This gives us more time to discus your concerns.

What if I feel anxious about coming to the dentist?

We understand that many people feel nervous about dental treatment. We aim to make appointments as calm and comfortable as possible, and we can talk you through your concerns and suitable options. For some patients, IV sedation (twilight sedation) may also be an option.

How much will my treatment cost?

Your first appointment fee depends on the type of appointment you book. If any treatment is recommended after your assessment, we will explain your options clearly and provide a treatment plan and fee estimate before proceeding.

Ready to book your first appointment?

Whether you are due for a routine check-up and clean or would like a more comprehensive assessment, our team can help you choose the most appropriate starting point.
